Corsa Sportiva is a fresh, citrus-aromatic extrait de parfum by MadHat Scents, built around vibrant pamplemousse, spicy ginger, black pepper and cool aromatic notes. Sparkling citrus and lively spices give way to fresh green nuances, airy florals, clean musk, ambroxan and smooth woods. Handcrafted in small batches in Illinois. Samples from $15.
Corsa Sportiva was inspired by the character of sporty, citrus-aromatic fragrances, particularly the now-discontinued Armani Code Sport. Rather than creating a direct recreation, I wanted to explore that same refreshing character through a different combination of materials, placing greater emphasis on grapefruit, ginger and black pepper while keeping the mint restrained.
The opening is bright and energetic, with juicy, slightly bitter pamplemousse accompanied by the sharp warmth of fresh ginger and the dry spice of black pepper. A subtle cooling aromatic quality runs through the citrus without allowing mint to dominate the composition.
As the fragrance develops, the initial burst of citrus and spice softens into a clean, airy heart of green notes and delicate floral nuances. Ambroxan, musk and smooth woody materials provide structure and longevity without weighing down the freshness.
Corsa Sportiva is my interpretation of a modern sporty fragrance: refreshing without being overly aquatic, aromatic without becoming excessively minty, and woody without losing its brightness. It retains a clean, energetic character throughout its development, making it particularly well suited to warmer weather and everyday wear.
What does Corsa Sportiva smell like?
Bright, slightly bitter pamplemousse with fresh ginger and black pepper, followed by subtle aromatic mint, green notes and airy florals. Clean musk, ambroxan and smooth dry woods create a fresh, understated woody drydown.
